Typically symmetrical, colonial home plans often have equally sized windows spaced uniformly across the front of the home with decorative shutters. The front door is often centered across the front – hence the term "Center Hall Colonial" – with a foyer that may have a ceiling that rises two floors. Colonial home plans usually have one gabled roof from side to side but may also have a hip roof.
